Indian Wedding Inspiration: Teal & Peacocks

At the first ever Weddings of the World show, Kenda Farnsworth of NW Events showcased a stunning modern Indian Wedding Showcase featuring colors of teal and orange as well as elaborate peacock decorations! 
The most spectacular part of her showcase was the custom mandap prepared by her team.

What is a mandap? A wedding mandap (विवाह मंडप, लग्नमण्डप) is a covered structure with pillars used for Hindu or Jain wedding. The main wedding ceremonies take place under the mandap. Use of a mandap is an ancient custom and is described in texts like Ramacharitamanas and various Sanskrit texts.


Traditional Hindu weddings are grand affair. They normally take place over several days with elaborate ceremonies, which lasts up to one week!

NWs First Multicultural Wedding Show presented by
Sheraton Portland Airport Hotel

The Sheraton Portland Airport Hotel presents the Weddings of the World Show. A wedding show that will fill over 22,500 square feet of space in three separate ballrooms into an inspirational journey. Attendees will be greeted and offered their wedding passports, which will serve as their entry form into the many prizes including vacation packages with airfare and hotel covered as they get their stamps around the world showcases.

Brides will be greeted by the smells and sounds of the culture as they enter showcase ballrooms featuring Indian, Russian, Asian and Latino wedding traditions. They will enjoy music, complimentary appetizers prepared by renowned Sheraton Chef Barry Handley, exhibitor showcases from Portland's finest, and inspiration from around the world.
